Hand Engraved Silver-plate Match Box Holder, c. 1890-1905
This beautiful hand-etched antique silver-plate matchbox holder and ashtray were designed and manufactured in Vienna by J.L. Herrmann Company between 1890-1905. Not much is known about J.L. Herrmann other than they were absorbed by Arthur Krupp Berndorf foundry shortly before World War 1.
Secession style, i.e. the Austro- Hungarian branch of Art Nouveau.
I love how sophisticated and elegant this matchbox holder and ashtray feels. Another lovely piece to accompany your favorite hand poured candle in vintage vessels.
